Earning his stripes off the strength of many rounds in the local music circuit, Mayer’s knack for songwriting and natural dexterity along the fretboard were not easily forgotten. Now, although he spends much of his time on the road these days when he’s not in between New York or Los Angeles, Mayer still finds time to drop in unannounced to one of Atlanta’s most revered local stages, Eddie’s Attic — a welcome gesture to many of the people, the city and the stages that were central to his early years. In the midst of recording his new album, Born and Raised, John Mayer offered us a glimpse into a few of his day-to-day carry goods and travel needs when he is on the road for our ongoing Essentials feature. The snapshot gives us a look into a guitarist and singer/songwriter who, although he needs no introduction for his music repertoire, also showcases an affinity and well-roundedness in other facets via an assortment of notable visvim items, a Leica M9-P, Hasselblad Xpan, Grado GS1000i Headphones and an oh-so-necessary Martin 00-45SC Guitar.
